01About

Rock, water and words

I’m a queer writer and outdoor instructor from Dorset. I’ve been climbing since I was eight, did a handful of competitions and trained five or six days a week until 2020. Adventure, the outdoors and human connection, with nature and with each other, run through everything I do.

These days I host Climb Club for Water Babes UK every Monday, I’m working through a four-month instructor training course with Land & Wave, and I’ve worked in adventure activities with PGL. On the wall, what matters most to me is the fun, the community and making sure everyone feels comfortable.

On the writing side, I hold a 2:1 in Creative Writing. My collection Ventricular is about love, loss and healing; my feature for the BMC’s Summit magazine looked at eating disorders in rock climbing; and I perform spoken word and run the Inkfantry writing workshops across Dorset and Devon.

Climb Club host

Water Babes UK · The Project Climbing Centre, Poole

Hosts the weekly Climb Club for Water Babes UK, a community that also runs sea swims and beach socials. Climb Club is a welcoming session built around the fun side of climbing and the community that comes with it.

  • Creates a safe, comfortable space on the wall where everyone can climb together and cheer each other on.
  • Takes the group along to competitions, to compete or to watch the finals and support the climbers.
  • Keeps the social side going after the session, so friendships made on the wall carry on off it.

Activity instructor

PGL

Delivered adventure activities for school and youth groups on residential trips.

Climber

Climbing since childhood. Competed in a handful of competitions and trained five to six days a week until 2020.

My hope with climb club is to nurture and create a safe environment in climbing for everyone to enjoy.
